The phase shifter is a 2-port network that can change the output phase according to the external analog command. There are many phase shifter circuits which can be divided by type of control into digital phase shifter and continuously adjustable phase shifter (can turn into digital phase shifter after digitizing on the adjustment voltage), or by operation mode into line phase shifter switch and load line phase shifter. These last two modes have their advantages and disadvantages respectively. The phase of the switchable line phase shifter is dispersive, which means that there is a linear relationship between phase shift and frequency, but the insertion loss varies little at different phase. While for the load line phase shifter, it is the opposite.
